Playful Art at Spy Pond
Join Arlington Public Art for an afternoon of free participatory art activities at Spy Pond Park near Linwood Circle. We invite you to:
- Play a game of chess on a giant set made of recycled ductwork by artist John Tagiuri, originally for Boston’s First Night.
- Make your own tiny checkerboard set using stencils and spray paint with artist Julia Roth.
- Construct a temporary sculpture using Public Workshop's Build-It discs on-loan from the Boston Society of Architects, or build a smaller sculpture from construction toys on-loan from the Little Fox Resale Shop of the Fox Library.
- Make a flag for the Fox Festival with Puppeteers Coop – carry your flag in the Fox Festival Parade in East Arlington on June 18!
Sound like fun? Join in – volunteers are still needed to help with set up, assist artists, and help with clean up. Email Cecily at cecily.APA@gmail.com to sign up.
Create a giant scullpture using 300 Build-it Discs -- created by Public Workshop and loaned to us by the Boston Architectural Center. Here they are in action! Left and center photos by Alex Gilliam/Public Workshop. Right photo: courtesy BSA/Space.
This program is supported in part by the Arlington Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
