Thompson School Puppets
Making puppets at the Thompson School
photos by Olivia Dantzler
Artist and illustrator Kari Percival is working with students in a series of after-school workshops at the Thompson School to make puppets, banners and signs for the Fox Festival Parade. Her project started with a visit from Marian Miller, an educator from Mass Audubon's Habitat Sanctuary. Then students made drawings of animals who might be found living in Arlington's parks and back yards. In the second session students made masks representing foxes, squirrels, rabbits and birds. In the third session the group developed signs with environmental messages. Don't miss their artwork on June 17 at the Parade -- come and cheer them on!
